About Sydney Whale-Watching By Speed Boat

Book Direct with the Owner at Sydney Whale-Watching By Speed Boat with Holiday Byron Bay in Sydney, for all your Attraction and travel needs.

Arrive at Campbell's Cove Pontoon, Circular Quay 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure to meet your driver and complete the brief sign in process. Board the vessel and be taken briskly across the harbour to Manly Wharf to pick up more passengers. Once everyone is on board, you'll receive a safety briefing, a requirement for all offshore adventures. Your driver will also outline the key things to look for when trying to spot the whales.

Hold on tight as the vessel picks up speed and leaves Sydney Harbour to head offshore to migration routes of the humpback whales. Your driver will be in contact with the other vessels to find the livliest and most approachable whale pods. Once the whales are located you will cruise alongside the migrating pod while your driver outlines plenty of whale facts.

How far away offshore you are now will determine how long you can spend with the whale pod.

When it is time to head home you will be asked to take your seat again and hang on as you speed back to Sydney Harbour.

The passengers from Manly will be dropped back first. Then you will cruise back through the harbor to Circular Quay, hopefully with a memory stick full of photos of breaching whales.

Epic afternoon... the waves were choppy so made for a more exciting ride. So much fun, my face was sore from laughing so much. Like being on a roller coaster for two hours. Saw three whales at the end which was great but thoroughly enjoyed it even if we didn't spot any! Would recommend anyone to do it... one of the best experiences you'll do in Sydney.

Wow, what an experience!!! After an exhilarating boat ride, he puts us in the perfect positions to take amazing photos. Captain Blake (the whale whisperer) is a super friendly guy and shares a wealth of information about humpback whales. With small group sizes and 360 degree uninterupted views, Ocean Extreme has been my number 1 choice for whale migration photography for 7 years. Booking is easy and worth every penny!

Blake was a fantastic operator very knowledgeable and great captain. We were lucky enough to see a few pods up very close including breaches and tail waves. Heading out of the heads so early in the morning was such a thrill and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Great experience out through Sydney heads. Seeing the whale breach was amazing and, being so close to these beautiful mammals is truly breathtaking. I'd highly recommend this tour. If you're going in winter and, in particular in the early morning wear some gloves, and even a beanie.

Blake is so knowledgeable on the whale migratory activities and in the ocean environment. You’re in for an amazing adventure, feel safe, and have a lot of fun. Blake’s boat get so close to the ocean level that you feel so much more on this experience, you really feel like you are with the whales and part of their day. Went twice in June and oct last year and saw whales both trips. Best experience I’ve had. Any wait for the next trip. Do yourself a favour and book in with Ocean Extreme 🐳

THE best whale watching experience in Sydney! I've been on a few and this kicks ass - you get in an awesomely powerful speed machine, you get out the harbour and go see whales close up and personal - you're eye to eye with a whale before most trips have got everyone on board. El Capitano Blake is an excellent host an all round good local guy. He can spot a whale tail in the distance whilst all around him can only see sea, and take you to the action in a blink of his all-seeing eye. The whales are far more at ease with the smaller boat and if other tours start to crowd he has the speed to move on and find other whales for a real personal whale experience. You'll also be able to download his photos for free after, so you don't have to spend your time looking through your own camera - an underrated aspect imho.

This is one of the best experiences you can do in Sydney, and we try to do it at least once a year during the season. The speed boat is makes it a combination of a thrill ride and whale watching experience. It’s fantastic! Blake is very knowledgeable and always makes it a fun couple of hours at sea.

We've tried several different whale tours in Sydney and Ocean Extreme has been the best by far. Each year we try to go out several times during the season with Blake and every trip is a little bit different. He has great knowledge of the humpbacks and their migration. Being on a smaller vessel there's a much more personal feel and connection with the whales. Aside from the whale watching just getting out and about on the high seas in the boat is sensational - there's nothing quite like it. He's so fast to get out of the heads and can cover a huge distance in a short space of time. For us being able to get pick up from Manly rather than travelling all the way into the city is also a bonus. Can't wait to get out this season!

We went quite early in the season and saw quite a few pods of whales. Being this close was amazing. While I was in awe at seeing the whales, my husband and I really enjoyed the ride. Really comfortable but fun. My husband often does things because I like it, but he also had a great time. To top it off, the driver/ host also took heaps of great photos that were sent that night. Brilliant. I will be going again next season.
